This wearable breastplate by blog author Christine Palamidessi is mostly inspired by the exhibit “Future Beauty: 30 Years of Japanese Fashion” that was at the Peabody Essex Museum ( Salem, MA) last winter….especially the strapped clothing by Japanese designers Tao Kurihara and Rei Kawakubo. Of course in addition to Japanese art, there is more homage being paid —-1 cotton strapping is Iyengar Yoga straps straight from Pune, India ..2. The sculpture itself hearkens back to the Greeks and Romans ideals.
